New Releases: June 24, 2022 - The Warning

New Releases: June 24, 2022 - The Warning

THE WARNING OPEN UP TO THEIR ERRORS

The Warning - Error

The Warning is a band that I happened to stumble upon on YouTube. Usually said platform just feeds you things that either don't interest you or more of the same song that you've already heard a million times. But, when I heard "Choke" it immediately caught my attention.

Since then, the band had been releasing singles and the EP Mayday which brought all of those singles together.  Error is an extension of the Mayday EP. This follows an old tradition that bands in the 60s would do. Release a bunch of singles, and EPs, then release an album that combines it all.

How many albums have The Warning released?

This is album number three, their first since 2018’s Queen Of The Murder Scene.

Who produced the album?

David Bendeth produced the album, he has worked with a ton of different artists such as Breaking Benjamin, In Flames, Bring Me The Horizon, and more.

What label is the band on?

The band is currently on Lava Records.

How many years has The Warning been active?

The Villarreal Vélez sisters have been at it since 2013.

Error is a very solid modern rock album, without falling into all of your usual clichés of modern rock-sounding albums. Although half of the album is featured on Mayday, it's still a great listen.

This album gives me hope that bands like The Warning will help carry the rock torch for generations to come. Give the album a spin if you haven't heard of them before, or want to hear more by them.

Here is The Warning with the track "Amour" off of their latest album Error.

New Releases: June 17, 2022 - Sole Syndicate

New Releases: June 17, 2022 - Sole Syndicate

SOLE SYNDICATE JUMPS INTO THE FLAMES

SOLE SYNDICATE - INTO THE FLAMES

The Sweden Sole Syndicate has returned with Into Their Flames. It is the third album released by the band, following the well-received Last Days Of Eden which dropped back in 2020, and 2017's Garden Of Eden. Right off the bat, this breaks up the Eden theme going with the album's title. No Flames Of Eden, Burning Down Eden, or anything like that.

This album will check off a lot of boxes for various types of listeners. The musicianship is really solid, and the vocals are crazy good. Lead singer Jonas Månsson sounds like Robin McAuley in spots. The album itself mixes a lot of different styles. You have some things that are influenced by 80s hard rock without it being really over the top. At the same time, the instruments are tuned way lower than anything you'd expect to hear coming from the Sunset Strip. There are keyboards on the album which at times sound like your typical keys for modern Scandinavian metal. But again, not over the top, so they add the perfect amount of flavoring to the songs. It is a modern-sounding album, sporting plenty of cool riffs, solos, and melodies as well.

Into The Flames is a nice gateway into Sole Syndicate's catalog. The album is pretty strong top to bottom, and will please plenty of hard rock fans looking for something different to listen to this weekend.

Here is Sole Syndicate with the track "Count To Zero" off of their latest album Let The Bad Times Roll.

New Releases: June 10, 2022 - Kreator

New Releases: June 10, 2022 - Kreator

KREATOR ARE BACK

KREATOR - HATE ÜBER ALLES

Mille Petrozza and his band Kreator is back after a five-year break with Hate Über Alles. This is the band's first album since 2017's Gods Of Violence. It is also the first album to feature new bassist Frédéric Leclercq. He is best known for his time in DragonForce.

So is a Hate Über Alles an album that benefitted from the band's time off?

How many albums have Kreator released?

This is album number fifteen, their first since 2017’s Gods Of Violence.

Who produced the album?

Arthur Rizk is the producer on Hate Über Alles

What label is the band on?

The band is currently on Nuclear Blast.

How many years has Kreator been active?

They started in 1982, forty years ago.

Kreator has at least in my mind led the European thrash assault for several decades. They haven't always been the most original band, as they've followed some trends along the way. But do you necessarily have to be original to be entertaining?

Hate Über Alles is good, really good. You could argue that it is one of the band's best albums. Again, they aren't reinventing the wheel here. They're taking what they're mainly known for, which is old-school thrash and fusing it with elements of other styles of metal. Instead of just trying to relive the past, the album is brought together using a modern production style. This makes the album sound both fresh, and classic at the same time. The album is so strong that it may be a letdown for new listeners discovering their catalog and realizing that some of their previous releases are nowhere near as good.

The band has always released good songs, and every album has some good tracks on them. But they have released very few albums over the years that are as good as Hate Über Alles.

I expect this album to be on many people's year-end lists.

Here is Kreator with the track "Become Immortal" off of their latest album Hate Über Alles.

New Releases: June 3, 2022 - Crobot

CROBOT RETURN WITH ALBUM NUMBER FOUR

CROBOT - FEEL THIS

Crobot has been going at it for over a decade. They have been getting all kinds of attention during that time from my fellow podcasters, and online publications. I liked certain things they have released, but also feel like they've had a Jekyll and Hyde complex. Some of their material is beyond great, and other songs have left me thinking "is this the same band?"

I don't know if Feel This is another one of those albums that benefitted from the pandemic. I've talked about this ad nauseam. How a lot of bands have taken additional of the additional time allotted to them due to the pandemic. The album is a very strong beginning to end. To me, it feels as if they've really upped their game from the sonic side of things, and from a compositional side of things.

If you've never heard of Crobot, now is the time to check them out. Feel This is no one-trick pony. It mixes various styles of rock, sounds great, and is very easy to listen to.

How many albums have Crobot released?

This is album number four, their first since 2019’s Motherbrain. They have also released three EPs along the way.

Where is the band from?

Crobot hails from the mighty Pottsville, Pennsylvania!

What label is the band on?

The band is currently on Mascot Label Group. This is the second album for Mascot.

How many years has Crobot been active?

The band has been at it since 2011.

Here is Crobot with the track "Electrified" off of their latest album Feel This.
